Claire
Nelson is a documentary, fine art photographer. Her passion for photography
began at age 12, when she was gifted a 35mm. Nelson received photographic
training through a Magnet Program in high school, which allowed her
technique and aesthetic to flourish. This resulted in a scholarship
from the Miami International University of Art and Design, where she
is earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. She has become proficient
in all aspects of photography and digital imaging including the use
of Photoshop, lighting, printing and a wide variety of camera formats.
Her images strive to tell a story, whether it be a fictional production,
or capturing real moments. During the 2011 Art Basel, she showcased
her series, Visual Narratives: Life
as We Know It, at The Lunch Box Gallery. The critically acclaimed exhibition
was featured in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel newspaper which dedicated
a two-spread to her photography and workflow. Nelson is currently gaining experience in the field as the intern photographer for the Miami New Times.
